Irwin Heads to Oulton Park in Confident Mood
Round two of the 2024 Bennetts British Superbike Championship heads for Oulton Park this bank holiday weekend with both Glenn Irwin and the Hager PBM Ducati team looking forward to the action.
After the opening round at Circuito de Navarra in Spain which saw Ulsterman Irwin claim a fourth and eighth place finish, the series returns to the UK for the remainder of the rounds starting with the team’s local event this weekend.
The Cheshire track has been a happy hunting ground in recent times with Glenn taking three wins out of the six races held there last year, and placing himself on the podium in the other three so he arrives in confident mood ahead of the triple header.
Prior to the races on Sunday and Monday, the team will be in action at the R&G official test at Oulton Park on Wednesday and Thursday this week.
Glenn Irwin:
“It’s always great to go to Oulton Park which is the team’s home round and I also have many sponsors based in the area. It’s always a special time of year as we have a busy few weeks what with BSB and the North West 200. We lost our way a little in the second race at the opening round but I know we have a great setting for Oulton Park and can’t wait to get to work at the test this week. This track holds special memories for me with all the success I had last year, never finishing off the podium and winning three races. I’ve been working really hard behind the scenes since Navarra so I’m sure we can take the fight to the opposition and hopefully come away with a repeat of last year's successes.”
Jordan Bird, Team Owner: “It’s back on home soil for the Hager PBM Ducati team and we are looking forward to welcoming all our longstanding partners plus a few new ones this weekend. Oulton Park is our home round and also a circuit we have had plenty of success at both as a team and Glenn as a rider. The circuit always makes for exciting racing so we anticipate some great battles across the weekend. Let’s hope we can take home our first silverware of the year.”
