The legendary Belgian venue of Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps will see the 74th running of the famous TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa this forthcoming weekend with Cumbrian driver Frank Bird set to contest the event for the Haupt Racing Team.
Penrith-born Frank will contest the Silver Cup category as part of a three-car entry for the German team and will be at the wheel of the #4 Haupt Racing Team Mercedes-AMG GT3 with three other drivers sharing the stints over the 24 hours.
Bird will be joined by German Jannes Fittje, Jordan Love from Australia and Swiss driver Alain Valente. Frank has already seen action for the Haupt Racing Team this year as together with Love, he made a guest appearance at the International GT Open weekend in Spa, where they finished runner-up.
Frank Bird: “I’m relishing the challenge of the TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa this weekend and hopeful we can have a good run without too many problems. I’ve got some good experience around Spa so that should be a benefit and there’s no reason why we can’t be challenging up front in the Silver Cup class.”
Sean Paul Breslin, Team Principal HRT: "The team already proved in the first two endurance races of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe that we can fight for top positions, both in the Silver and Gold Cup. HRT made a strong showing at the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring and celebrated a well-deserved class win. This makes us optimistic that we will do our best to finish at the front in both classifications at Spa."
